A
nd once again in 2014 we can expect
to see a group of uber-youngsters
and stars of the future lining up to
add their name to the trophy and to
try to catch the eye of a recruiting team owner
or manager and make the step-up to the top-
ïight of racing ¥ it has been done before.
Last year Team F1 Atlantic’s Mike Szymura
lifted the trophy on his series debut, closing out
the Championship at the penultimate event of
the year in Abu Dhabi and starts the defence of
his title, but the Berliner will be hoping he won’t
again have to wait until round three before
sealing his first race win and climbing the top
step of the podium.
But it was 20 year-old Szymura’s consistency
over the 11 races, winning twice, finishing second
seven times and on the podium in second three
times, that paid a premium dividend and took
him to three Grand Prix titles in China, Qatar and
Sharjah and overall Championship success.
Of the 15 drivers from eight countries who
stepped out in 2013, seven were newcomers to
the series, and seven of them are immediately
back and will line up in Doha, the only
uncertainty is who will take the Team Sweden
berth.
Team CTIC China has again opted to go with
the very popular Bingchen Wu, who at 25
years-old is a veritable veteran. The driver from
