The mathematical formula is simple
and it all comes down to this; three
Grand Prix in 34 days in Doha, Abu
Dhabi and Sharjah in November
and December to determine the
2014 Drivers Champion on the UIM
F1H2O World Championship tour.
Once again the Middle East stops
on the yearly calendar will play
a major role in determining the
number one driver in the world’s
most challenging powerboat
Championship.
Team Qatar’s defending and three-
time World Champion Alex Carella is
in the box seat, two wins out of two
giving him a 25 point cushion over
CTIC China’s Philippe Chiappe and
Nautica’s rising star Erik Stark, tied
on 15 points in second.
France’s Jennifer
Menard ended her first
full season on the UIM-
ABP tour as she began
it in Qatar, winning both
heats and the GP title
to cap a great season
and be crowned Queen
in Ski Ladies.
Menard was the
outstanding rider taking
six heat wins and three
GP titles, faltering only
twice, trading wins with
Estelle Poret in Italy,
a DQ in Ibiza letting
in Sandra Fernandez
Rodriguez to grab the
overall GP win.
Estelle Poret finished
second overall, Marta
Sorrentino taking third.

CAMPAIGN TO DETERMINE TITLE!
MENARD CROWNED QUEEN IN
SKI LADIES
One of the hardest working
individuals in all of powerboat
racing, Luis Miguel Ribeiro
Martins, was elected to the
very selective and influential
UIM Council at the 87th UIM
General Assembly held in Ibiza,
Spain.
Luis, the UIM F1H2O Race
Commissioner who over sees
all the racing activities both on
and off the water during each
Grand Prix, was voted onto the
Council board, a well-deserved
honour for a man who has
dedicated nearly all of his adult
life to the sport of powerboat
racing.
Having taken over the
responsibilities of Race
Director full time a few years
ago, Luis has been both a long
time racer and official for many
years in his home country of
Portugal.

COMBINED C1 AND V1 RACES
A RESOUNDING SUCCESS
The combining of C1
catamarans and V1
monohulls in a new look
ClassOne Championship has
proved a resounding success
delivering a great spectacle,
side-by-side racing and nail
biting qualifying sessions;
four races, two different
winners in C1 four different
outfits on the podium and two
teams sharing a qualifying
time. In V1, four winners, five
different teams peppering
the podium and four different
pole sitters – eight points
separating five boats in the
World title race.
