Dubai’s Victory Team have added yet
another piece of silverware to their
already bursting trophy cabinet, two wins
in Ibiza and a win in Terracina for multiple
Champions Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir
Bin Hendi securing the team its eight
European Championship.
From the first race in Qatar to the
last race in China the fight for the
title between Jeremy Poret and Chris
MacClugage delivered everything
and more than could be anticipated,
the Frenchman triumphing over his
American rival.
Poret grabbed the advantage with two
race wins and the GP title in Qatar.
MacClugage hit back in Italy, the pair
sharing a win a piece the American
taking the overall GP win. In Ibiza
MacClugage made it three wins out of
three to win his second title and narrow
the gap to 16 points going into the title
showdown in China.
MacClugage led race 1 until the last
turn but was forced to take the penalty
buoy, Poret pounced and grabbed the
win, then going on to win his third World
title in style with a start-to-finish win in
race 2.
Five years after winning his first World title
in Liuzhou, China in 2009 France’s Teddy
Pons has done it again.
In an extraordinary year that saw four
different Grand Prix and heat winners it was
Pons who held his nerve to be crowned
World Champion.
Cyrille Lemoine’s title hopes faded after
winning in Qatar, the fight taken up by
countrymen Jeremy Perez and Pons.
Perez grabbed the advantage winning twice
in Italy Pons hit back winning twice in Ibiza
and headed to China with a seven point
advantage.
Perez led in race 1 then broke, Pons took
the win and the World title but broke in
race 2, the win and Grand Prix title going to
Sweden’s Lars Akerblom.
Slovenia’s freestyle superstar
Rok Florjancic left his best till
last to win his second UIM-ABP
World title in Liuzhou, China
delivering a simply spellbinding
near-perfect routine, the judges
scoring him 99 out of 100 for
variety, quantity and style.
The 29-year-old from Maribor
remains unbeaten in 24 heats
at 12 Grand Prix since his debut
on the UIM-ABP tour in 2011,
his biggest rival and runner-up
for the second year in a row,
the 2012 World Champion, his
brother Nac.

for European honours with Malta’s Aaron Chiantar and

was enough to get them home by the narrowest of
margins, Daniel Cramphorn and Nico Huybens taking the
