ome drivers seem to have that special “happy
place” at a certain race that they always do
well at, with great results year-after-year.
The final swing of any season on the UIM
F1H2O World Championship tour are the
Emirates races which are back-to-back every
year and truly a grind for not only the drivers,
but their crews and families alike.
Some also seem to get it right every year. Let’s take a
look at who’s had the greatest success in the Emirates
over the years.
For the Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi which will be
the sixth race of the 2016 campaign, if you were a
betting person, Italian Alex Carella, a three-time
world champion and driving for the home Team Abu
Dhabi organization would be the most logical choice.
In just six races starts the driver from Piacenza has
three victories and four podiums so he has a fantastic
50/50 chance to win in 2016 as well.
Next would be another three-time winner in twice
worldchampionSami Selioof Finland. Thisdriver from
Helsinki has won in Abu Dhabi under tremendous
pressure in the past and whose last victory was 2013
in his 16 previous starts so he’s winning at almost a
20% clip or one out of five chances.
