fter three enthralling Grand Prix in Europe in Portugal, the
United Kingdom and France, phase 2 of the 2018 campaign
sees the nine teams and 19 drivers in the UIM F1H2O World
Championship set to showcase the series at two new venues
in Asia, Xiangyang in the Peoples Republic of China on 21-23
September and Amaravati in India on 16-18 November.
Xiangyang in Hubei Province will be the 11th city in the PRC to
host a round of the championship since its first appearance
in Hangzhou in 1995, marking its 17th year and playing out its
24th Grand Prix in China, whilst the Grand Prix of Amaravati
marks a return to India for the first time since 2004 when
Mumbai hosted the season opener. Of the ‘class of 2004’ six are racing today,
race winner Francesco Cantando, Sami Selio, Thani Al Qemzi, Philippe Chiappe,
Cedric Deguisne and Duarte Benavente.
The opening rounds have delivered some stand out performances in both BRM
Qualifying and all three races, one team, Abu Dhabi, stamping its authority and
currently topping the points table in the Teams’ Championship and its driver
line up locking out the top three spots in the title race and claiming an historic
one-two-three last time out in France.
Of the nine podium slots on offer so far Abu Dhabi has claimed five, CTIC F1
Shenzhen China three and Maverick F1 Racing one, whilst in BRM Qualifying
Erik Stark and Shaun Torrente have proved to be the quickest- but only just!
